Frieda Utley
Frieda Utley has been a Life Member and donor of Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. for 38 years. After reading There is a River: The Story of Edgar Cayce by Thomas Sugrue in the fifth grade, Frieda felt that Edgar Cayce was family. What really drew her to the Cayce work was the passion of the people who believed in him and his work and how they continued to share his work with the world. Frieda’s favorite philosophies are “Mind is the Builder, and the Physical is the Result.” Frieda had shared that her dream was to sell her home in North Carolina and move to Virginia Beach to volunteer at the A.R.E. This year she was able to make that dream come true and has been volunteering at the A.R.E.
Don Carroll
Don has been involved with the A.R.E. since at least 1996 and donor since 2005. He has been a Life Member since 2007, a former Board Member, a member of the Edgar Cayce Legacy Society, acted as an A.R.E. tour leader and participant, an author of metaphysical topics as well as ancient culture symbolism.

When I was a senior in high school and full of myself, a teacher loaned me a copy of There Is A River, the biography of Edgar Cayce. I came from an agnostic family and was a bit cynical about religion. What Cayce had to say about the soul and the role of humanity changed my perspective on life.

This led my wife and me to an exploration of topics such as reincarnation through Dr. Ian Stevenson’s work at the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia and the work of Dr. Raymond Moody on near-death experiences. These topics and much more were highlighted and developed at the Association for Research and Enlightenment, which my wife and I enthusiastically joined as life members some 40 years ago. Through its publications, conferences, tours, Atlantic University, Cayce-Reilly School of Massage, and research in various subjects such as health, ancient mysteries, astrology, and Christianity, A.R.E. has been at the forefront of raising human consciousness physically, mentally, and spiritually. I have witnessed the organization grow dramatically as it changes lives for the better around the world.
There are thousands of charitable, philanthropic organizations competing for support, as anyone who has given can attest. A.R.E. has been a priority to us because I know its mission of raising human consciousness is foundational to our spiritual evolution. I have had the pleasure and privilege to have twice served on the A.R.E. Board of Trustees and have seen firsthand how the application of spiritual principles it advocates has served it well through various challenges over the past 90 years. As the world enters a new era of spiritual awakening, we fully expect A.R.E. to lead the way, and we are honored to be a part of that process.
